Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

December 10th to 19th

Our stay here in Long Bay, Charlotte Amalie has been longer than expected, but necessary. We are waiting for the Solar Panels that have been delayed until next week.  Charlotte Amalie is the big city of St Thomas, lots of traffic and very noisy, making our stay a little uncomfortable.

We  took a taxi (thanks Winston) to pick up our  water maker and used the dinghy to transport it to the boat. We have also been busy shopping for tools at home depot and things to make the boat feel more like home at Kmart, the only big store on the Island 🙂

We had dinner onboard Wonderland with our friends Rex and Dixie.  We finally met Mike and Rebecca  the couple whose blog  “Zero to Cruising” we have been following for over two years.  They started  with no experience and are now captain and chef on the beautiful Leopard 46 charter cat “One Love”.  We had dinner aboard “One Love” and recommend the crew and boat to anyone interested in chartering in the USVI or BVI.

Our  friends from Miami,  Marcy & Jerry,  came to visit us  onboard  Harmony. They arrived via the NCL cruise ship EPIC. We picked them up from the cruise dock in our dinghy and brought them to the boat.  It was a  short visit but nice to have friends onboard. Thank you for lunch guys!!

We moved to Crown Bay Marina and had the water maker installed by Reefco.  We have been having some problems with the port alternator so Royce removed  it so it could be bench  tested.  The alternator passed the test.  The gentlemen at Bradford Marine tested the Alternator for free and offered a solution to the issue we were having.  Royce installed the alternator and it seems to be working ok.  One of our house batteries was bad so Royce replaced all of them as mixing batteries is not recommended.   While Royce was busy working on the boat I went to the hair salon to pamper myself and returned to K-Mart for more shopping 🙂

We will stay here until the solar panels arrive. It will be much easier getting them to the boat in a Marina than at anchor.

Big neighbors .. you can see Harmony in front of them

With Dixie, having dinner on their Boat Wonderland.

The Christmas Parade. We watched it from our boat.
